Kirk,

You boys are on the road by now. I'm sitting here jealous as hell, but family calls. Next year for sure. I can't believe I'm missing the trip for 2 years in a row. Stay out of the buffalo crap and good luck getting to the honey holes before Marck.

Kirk ~ Have a blast! If I didn't already have fishing plans this weekend I'd sneak up and meet you on the Madison for the day. Enjoy the trip, gather the good intel, get a few great pictures to delight the visual people like me and catch LOTS of fish!
May the Montana Mother Nature Lady be kind to you all.
P.S. I'm jealous =)

Kirk,
After reading that. I can feel the cramps and stiffness of the drive right now. I can hardly wait! It feels like Christmas eve. See you at 5am.

Jeff, sounds like we're kindred spirits. Misery loves company, and I doubt there's a shortage of good company for fools, er... folks like us!

Thanks for the intel, Stacie. We probably won't roll into Butte until late, so about all we'll do is check in and hit the sack. Cheaper=better, and ambiance?
Not sure what that even is ;) Thanks for weighing-in with your thoughts and advice.

I look forward to hearing about the trip. I am glad to see we are are a "breed" and not isolated individuals privately obbsessing about these adventures. I make my first trek from SW Washington to the "promise land" in early to mid April for the skwalas. I spend 6 months looking forward to that week while my wife spends 6 months dreading the 6 weeks before and the checking and re-checking my gear, checking the weather, and on and on. Cheap motels, bad meals, some good company...throw in some good fly fishing and it sounds almost like heaven to me! Tight Lines!

Cheap places to stay in Butte area: Finlen Hotel (Motor Inn) in Uptown which would require treks to the local watering holes and walking around Uptown checking out all the old buildings. Another cheap place on the highway is the Rocker Inn in Rocker. Not the same ambiance that's for sure.

Hope the rivers fish well for you all. Outfitters on FB are saying the Yellowstone is blown out at present. It would be exciting to fish the Big Hole. That's some pretty country down there. Good place to stay south of Ennis is the Blue Moon. Old log cabins are cool! (Just like the Ho Hum. That old fellow is nice and his cabins are super cool!)
